Chit Ngiat Pan



Tjhit Ngiat Pan always held at day 15th of month 7th according to Chinesse date or august 14th in general date(at night).The main agenda of this celebration is struggle the foods which prepared by committee.Some of temple also celebrated with burning the devil’s statue known as Thai Se Ja.This event as symbol to chase away devil.



Chinesse people believe that day 15th of month 7th ,the door of hereafter was open.The spirit in hereafter was out and come to earth(human world).In the earth the spirit was displaced and untreated.So people in earth held this ceremony for them that is give them food,drink and more so that the spirit wasn’t disturb human in earth.

This ceremony can held in home or temple.If we have one of our family died we can held in house to give honour to the spirit.The ceremony in temple held for unknown spirit.They don’t have house or place to come home.

Many people come to this ceremony at night to give honour to spirit.Many food available for the spirit.At midnight food that was available reputed enough enjoy by the spirit.And then ceremony continued by struggle the food.People can take the food for him/her.People belief that if can’t take the food will get bad luck.So must get that.

The top of the ceremony is burning the statue of devil known as Thai Se Ja.Thai Se Ja is god of hereafter who will bring the spirit back to hereafter.Together withstatue of Thai Se Ja also burned money,clothes and house made from paper.This event for the spirit as “cost” back to hereafter.
